The lodge is close to the trekking areas of Rushaga, Nkuringo, and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, making it a convenient base for gorilla trekking.

The restaurant serves continental meals prepared by experienced chefs, and the lodge also hosts themed dinner nights. A well-stocked bar offers a variety of drinks, which guests can enjoy around the campfire while sharing stories of the day.

Activities near the lodge
- Cultural Tours: A stay at the lodge gives guests the chance to meet the Batwa people, the original inhabitants of the rainforest before it became a national park. The Batwa lived as hunter-gatherers, depending on the forest for shelter, food, and medicine. During visits, guests enjoy traditional music, dance, and storytelling about their lives in the forest.
- Mountain Biking: Guests can rent bikes at the lodge and ride through the countryside. The area offers good biking routes across hills, villages, and around the lake.
- Canoeing: A dugout canoe ride on Lake Mulehe is another activity to enjoy. The trip offers views of the Virunga Ranges, the surrounding countryside, and many water birds.
- Gorilla Trekking: Gorilla trekking is the main activity for visitors staying at the lodge. Treks begin in the morning and last 2 to 7 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family and the hikers’ pace. Once found, visitors spend one hour observing and photographing the gorillas.
- Gorilla Habituation: For those interested in more time with gorillas, habituation offers a 4-hour experience. Gorilla habituation is the process of helping gorillas get used to human presence. It takes 2–3 years for researchers to complete this process before a gorilla group is ready for tourism.
