Simba Safari Camp is located in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It overlooks Lake Kikorongo, Lake George, the Kazinga Channel, and the Kasenyi plains. The lodge has gardens where guests can relax after a long day and watch wildlife on the plains.
Queen Elizabeth National Park covers 1,978 square kilometers in western Uganda. It is home to crater lakes, savannah plains, forests, 600 bird species, and 95 mammal species. The park lies at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon. On clear days, the Virunga volcanoes can also be seen.
There are different ways to explore the park, including game drives in the Kasenyi or Ishasha sectors, guided nature walks, and boat cruises on the Kazinga Channel.

Activities to do near the lodge
- Game Drives: Well-maintained trucks are available for game drives. The best time is early morning when nocturnal animals may still be active. Wildlife includes elephants, buffaloes, hippos, bushbucks, warthogs, waterbucks, Ugandan kob, topis, duikers, hyenas, and more. The Ishasha sector is especially known for tree-climbing lions, found only here and in Tanzania’s Lake Manyara National Park.
- Boat Cruises: The Kazinga Channel links Lake George and Lake Edward. Boat cruises here usually take place in the afternoon and allow visitors to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and many water birds along the shores.
Best Time to Visit
Queen Elizabeth National Park can be visited all year round. The best months are June to September and December to February, when the grass is shorter and wildlife gathers near water sources, making sightings easier.
How to Get There
The park is a 5-6 hour drive from Kampala via Mbarara. Visitors can also fly from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kasese or Mweya airstrips.
