Paraa Safari Lodge is one of Uganda’s oldest and finest luxury lodges. Built in 1954 in Murchison Falls National Park, in the northwestern part of the country, the lodge offers comfort, relaxation, and adventure. It has 54 spacious rooms, each with a private balcony.

The swimming pool is the best place to cool off after a game drive, with a poolside bar available for drinks as you relax. The restaurant serves both local and international dishes with views of the Nile.
The lodge has a business center open daily from 8 am to 8 pm, with 24-hour internet access, and a conference hall fully equipped for meetings. Guests are advised to notify reception in advance to prepare these facilities.
There is also a craft shop where you can buy souvenirs, and a main bar located on the upper floor, an excellent place to relax in the evening.
Activities in Murchison Falls National Park
- Nature Walks: Guided walks from the lodge down to the river, or in areas like Rabongo Forest and Kaniyo-Pabidi Forest. Visitors can see birds, animals, gullies, and hills along the way.
- Game Drives: Guests can hire a car from the lodge and be joined by a UWA ranger to spot wildlife. Morning and late afternoon are the best times to see buffaloes, elephants, lions, hartebeests, oribis, and more.
- Fishing: Fishing is done in designated areas with the help of a guide. Guests can bring their own gear or hire from the lodge. Common catches include Nile perch and catfish. The largest Nile perch recorded weighed 108 kilograms near the falls.
- Bird-watching: The park has about 451 recorded bird species. Common sightings include the martial eagle, papyrus gonolek, shoebill, white-tailed lark, and Verreaux’s eagle owl. The best time is between November and April when migratory birds are present.
