Gorilla Mist Camp is located in the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. This area is home to the Kyaguriro, Oruzogo, and Bitukura mountain gorilla families.
The lodge is one of the best mid-range options for gorilla trekking in Ruhija or Buhoma. It has eight comfortable rooms, including singles, twins, and doubles. All rooms are spacious, self-contained, and have private balconies overlooking the forest. Hot water bottles are provided on cold nights.

- Bird Watching: Bwindi has over 345 bird species, including 25 Albertine endemics. Birds seen here include banded prinia, strange weaver, brown-chested alethe, slender-billed greenbul, grey cuckoo-shrike, yellow-streaked greenbul, white-starred robin, mountain illadopsis, and white-browed crombec.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to more than half of the world’s mountain gorillas and over 351 bird species, some unique to the area. It is divided into four sectors: Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo, and Buhoma. Visitors must ensure they obtain a gorilla permit for the same sector where they book their accommodation.
How to Get There
The lodge can be reached by road from Kampala in 9–10 hours, covering about 405 kilometers. Alternatively, a charter flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield takes about 2.5 hours to Kihihi Airstrip, followed by a short drive to the lodge.
