Mountain gorillas are found only in three countries in the world which are; Uganda, Rwanda and Congo in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Volcanoes National Park and Virunga National Park respectively.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the only isolated of these. Mgahinga, Volcanoes and Virunga share the Virunga Conservation Area.

Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Map
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has over 500 mountain gorillas. It accounts for over half of the remaining mountain gorilla population and is apparently the best place to see gorillas in Africa. Gorilla permits here cost only $600 all year round.

Virunga Conservation Area Gorilla Trekking Map
The Virunga Conservation Area is shared by Volcanoes National Park, Virunga National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. These parks are found in Rwanda, Congo and Uganda respectively.
The eight Virunga Volcanoes are also found along this conservation. These Include Mount Muhabura, Mount Bisoke, Mount Visoke, Mount Gahinga, Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Karisimbi, Mount Nyamuragira and Mount Nyiragongo.
While planning for your gorilla safari, give Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the first priority, Volcanoes National Park the second priority and Virunga National Park the last priority.
